State of Hawai’i Safe Travels Hawai‘i Program

starting January 4, 2022

Aloha! The State of Hawai‘i Safe Travels Hawai‘i Program is a multilayered process designed to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our community from visitors arriving at airports/ports across the Islands.

For anyone planning traveling to the Hawaiian Islands, it is important to be aware of the State of Hawai‘i Safe Travels Hawai‘i Program entry requirements prior to departure. All information can be found by visiting the Hawai‘i Safe Travels website.

PLEASE NOTE:

Any traveler who chooses not to participate in the State of Hawai’i Safe Travels Hawai‘i Program is subject to quarantine upon arrival. Hanalei Bay Resort is not a quarantine facility. If you are subject to the 5-day quarantine, you will be unable to check-in at Hanalei Bay Resort.

STEP 1

REGISTRATION WITH SAFE TRAVELS HAWAI‘I PROGRAM

  • Vaccinated: Transpacific Travel with the Safe Travels Vaccine Passport Program
    • To verify you meet the vaccine requirement, please click here.
    • If you are age 18 years or older, you must create a State of Hawai‘i Safe Travels Hawai‘i The names, vaccine and travel information for each child/children traveling with a registered adult will also need to be included.
    • Upload an image of your CDC vaccination card or VAMS Vaccination Certificate to your Safe Travels account prior to departure with hard copy (an original is highly recommended) in hand when arriving on Kaua’i.
    • Please note: unvaccinated children ages 2-17 traveling with a fully vaccinated parent or guardian will need to take a COVID-19 test from a trusted testing travel partner and upload their negative test results into your Safe Travels account. Tests must be taken within 72 hours before departure of the final leg of their trip to Hawai’i. Hard copies of test results are also highly recommended.
    • Upon completion of your registration, you will receive a QR code for each leg of your trip.
  • Unvaccinated: Transpacific Travel Safe Travels Program with a Negative Pre-Travel Test
    • Travelers from out-of-state, who do not have a vaccine record, are able to avoid quarantine by obtaining a negative pre-travel test.
    • For those travelers arriving WITHOUT a negative result from an accepted COVID-19 Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) taken within 72 hours before departure of the final leg of their trip to Hawai’i, a 5-day mandatory quarantine will be required. Find a list of trusted travel testing partners hereTranspacific travelers will not be able to obtain an accepted COVID-19 test upon arrival at any Hawai’i airport.
    • If you are age 18 years or older, you must create a State of Hawai‘i Safe Travels Hawai‘i The names and travel information for each child/children traveling with a registered adult will also need to be included.
    • The negative test result MUST be uploaded onto Safe Travels prior to departure or printed out prior to departure with hard copy in hand when arriving in Hawaii.
    • Upon completion of your registration, you will receive a QR code for each leg of your trip. Hard copies of test results are also highly recommended.
  • Inter-Island Travel
    • Regardless of vaccination status, inter-island travelers do not need to take a pre-travel COVID-19 test.
    • Register for your State of Hawai‘i Safe Travels Hawai‘i. The names and travel information for each child/children traveling with a registered adult will also need to be included.

STEP 2

CHECKING-IN AT THE RESORT

  • Upon arrival at the Resort, you will be asked to provide documentation proving that all persons in your party are not subject to quarantine (i.e. your QR code from the Safe Travels Account). Once the registration form has been completed and verification that no one in your party is subject to quarantine, you will be checked-in.
  • If you or anyone in your party arrive without proof of vaccination or negative test results via the Hawai’i Safe Travels Program, you will not be able to check-in. If you are concerned you might not receive your negative test results prior to your arrival on Kaua’i, we encourage you to make alternative arrangements as a precaution.
  • In compliance with CDC and State recommendations, we are asking all Owners and Guests to wear facial coverings and maintain social distancing when entering common areas of the Resort. We also encourage you to use the hand sanitizer stations that have been placed throughout the property. Large gatherings in common areas are not permitted. Should you desire more space to entertain family and friends, we are available to recommend local parks in the area.

COVID-19 WARNING:  Our resort is a lodging facility. Please consider that there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 or other infectious diseases in any place where people are present.  COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and in some cases, death.  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, EVERYONE IS AT RISK of contracting COVID-19.  Older adults and those with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable.  Although we have implemented recommended practices to promote the health and safety for all of our timeshare owners, guests and employees, we cannot ensure 100% or be held liable that our premises are free from contagions, whether caused by us or any of our guests or employees.  By voluntarily entering and being present at our resort facilities, you (and each person in your travel party) acknowledge and agree to accept complete and sole responsibility of the inherent risks associated with potential or actual exposure to infectious disease contagions.
