As you prepare for your upcoming trip, please be aware that the County of Kaua‘i has announced new requirements related to COVID-19 for inbound travelers. Please review the requirements before you depart for your upcoming vacation to Hanalei Bay Resort.

Important Information to Ensure Your Wellbeing

Aloha! The State of Hawai‘i Safe Travels Hawai‘i Program is a multilayered process designed to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our community from transpacific and inter-island visitors arriving at airports/ports across the Islands.

For anyone planning traveling to the Hawaiian Islands, it is important to be aware of the new and enhanced State of Hawai‘i Safe Travels Hawai‘i Program entry requirements prior to departure. All information can be found by visiting the Hawai‘i Safe Travels website.

PLEASE NOTE:

Anyone who chooses not to participate in the State of Hawai’i Safe Travels Hawai‘i Program is subject to quarantine upon arrival. Hanalei Bay Resort is neither a quarantine facility, nor Resort Bubble. If you are subject to the 10-day quarantine, you will be unable to check-in at Hanalei Bay Resort.

Please read the following steps carefully to ensure you adhere to the most updated travel guidelines. If you have any questions, please visit Safe Travels Hawai‘i Help website.

STEP 1

REGISTRATION WITH SAFE TRAVELS HAWAI‘I PROGRAM

    • Vaccinated: Transpacific Travel with the Safe Travels Vaccine Passport Program
      • Travelers are considered fully vaccinated on the 15th day after their second dose in a 2-dose series, like the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or on the 15th day after a single-dose vaccine, like Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.
      • If you are age 18 years or older, you must create a State of Hawai‘i Safe Travels Hawai‘i account. The names and travel information for each child/children traveling with a registered adult will also need to be included.
      • Upload an image of your CDC vaccination card or VAMS Vaccination Certificate to your Safe Travels account prior to departure with hard copy (an original is highly recommended) in hand when arriving on Kaua’i.
      • Please note: unvaccinated children ages 5-17 traveling with a fully vaccinated parent or guardian will need to take a COVID-19 test from a trusted testing travel partner and upload their negative test results into your Safe Travels account. Tests must be taken within 72 hours before departure of the final leg of their trip to Hawaii. Hard copies of test results are also highly recommended.

    • Unvaccinated: Transpacific Travel Safe Travels Program with a Negative Pre-Travel Test
      • Travelers from out-of-state who do not have a vaccine record are able to avoid quarantine by first obtaining a negative pre-travel test.
      • For those travelers arriving WITHOUT a negative result from an accepted COVID-19 Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) taken within 72 hours before departure of the final leg of their trip to Hawaii, a 10-day mandatory quarantine will be required. Find a list of trusted travel testing partners hereTranspacific travelers will not be able to obtain an accepted COVID-19 test upon arrival at any Hawai’i airport.
      • If you are age 18 years or older, you must create a State of Hawai‘i Safe Travels Hawai‘i account. The names and travel information for each child/children traveling with a registered adult will also need to be included.
      • The negative test result MUST be uploaded onto Safe Travels prior to departure or printed out prior to departure with hard copy in hand when arriving in Hawaii.
      • Upon completion of your registration, you will receive a QR code for each leg of your trip. Hard copies of test results are also highly recommended.

  • Inter-Island Travel
    • Regardless of vaccination status, inter-island travelers do not need to take a pre-travel COVID-19 test.
    • Register for your State of Hawai‘i Safe Travels Hawai‘i. The names and travel information for each child/children traveling with a registered adult will also need to be included.

STEP 2

MANADATORY STATE OF HAWAI’I TRAVEL HEALTH QUESTIONNAIRE

  • You will receive a notice 24 hours prior to your departure time to or between the Hawaiian Islands to complete the Mandatory State of Hawai‘i Travel and Health Form via your Safe Travels Hawai‘i account. The names of each child/children traveling with a registered adult will also need to be included in that adult’s Mandatory State of Hawai‘i Travel Health Questionnaire.
  • Upon completion of the Travel Health Questionnaire, a QR code will be emailed to you. Airport personnel will need the QR code to locate and validate your Safe Travels Hawai‘i information. You are encouraged to have both the electronic QR code as well as a printed, hard copy in hand upon your arrival.

STEP 3

CHECKING-IN AT THE RESORT

  • Upon arrival at the Resort, you will be asked to provide documentation proving that all persons in your party are not subject to quarantine (i.e. your QR CODE from the Safe Travels Account indicating Negative). Once the registration form has been completed and verification that no one in your party is subject to quarantine, you will be checked-in.
  • If you or anyone in your party arrive without proof of vaccination or negative test results via the Hawai’i Safe Travels Program, you will not be able to check-in. If you are concerned you might not receive your negative test results prior to your arrival on Kaua’i, we encourage you to make alternative arrangements as a precaution.
  • In compliance with CDC and State recommendations, we are asking all Owners and Guests to wear facial coverings and maintain social distancing when entering common areas of the Resort. We also encourage you to use the hand sanitizer stations that have been placed throughout the property. Large gatherings in common areas are not permitted. Should you desire more space to entertain family and friends, we are available to recommend local parks in the area.
  • If you experience a delay or disruption during your travels and need to speak to the Front Desk to make arrangements for late check-in, please call (808) 826-6522. Before you travel, please review the Hawai’i State Department of Health’s website for additional guidance by clicking here.
