2023 Malama Awards

Every year in the Fall, Kauai hosts its Annual Malama Awards which recognizes excellence in the hospitality industry island-wide. Hanalei Bay Resort had a total of six (6) nominees across several departments: Nestor Dumayas, Maintenance Technician (L); Merlina Galo, Room Attendant (second from L); Kailani Alexander, Front Desk Manager (third from L); Terrilynn Makanani, Reservations (middle L); Robin Manuel, Maintenance Administrative Assistant (second from R); and Christopher Caspillo, Bellman (not pictured). Management also attended in support: Joe Borden, Assistant Maintenance Manager (middle R) and Leila Machado, Assistant General Manager (R); George K. Costa, General Manager, and Mark Aqui, Director of Facilities, (not pictured) were also in attendance. It was a very special evening had by all. The highlight, however, was Christopher Caspillo winning Bellman of the Year across all of Kauai! Christopher is pictured here on the Bell cart. Although he and his wife Mahina Caspillo (former Guest Service Agent) recently moved off island, we are very grateful for the outstanding hospitality and service they provided during their short tenure at Hanalei Bay Resort!
